“Sometimes” is a great opener for the next instalment of Andre Pelser and the Harvester Blues Band. This album was recorded in 3 days at Rhapsody Studios, Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa. Andre has travelled the world spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but he loves coming home to Cape
Town, hence the title track. But there is a higher message that we are all strangers and pilgrims on this earth and we all, like “Ulysses” will finally reach our eternal home after our life’s odyssey.
What made it an amazing experience was the fact that some of the songs ‘happened’ in the studio – like “Forgiveness” that Andre played in and sang first take, for the first time ever! Playing with a band for a long time I have had the privilege of enjoying the vibes between the musicians.
Hilton Pelser on Bass did a great job and two brothers on rhythm section was memorable. Daniel and Michelle Louw on Brass Section embellished the hits and added some beautiful melodic moments to “Shelter of Your Love.”
Once again we had the blues harp with Greg Smith and Lead guitars with Dale Collins, Leigh and Eric Collins bringing in backing vocals and guitars. Aje tried a lick on lead guitar for “forgiveness” and Nola played piano accordion. Nola Pelser, Chantal Pelser, Helen Saurerman Faurie, Charlene Faurie were excellent on backing vocals and harmonies throughout the album. Listen for Greg’s Mexican accent on “Mexican Melody” and enjoy the soothing Latin feel of “Shelter of Your Love.”
